If regular tuning of the piano is neglected, the piano strings will drop in tension, causing a drop in the piano’s pitch. A pitch raise is a coarse tuning to raise the tension either completely to A 440, or part way, depending on the particular circumstances.
The greater the change in tension/pitch is made, the less stable the tuning may be. So, the piano may need to be re-tuned sooner than usual.
